Abstract: |
The purpose of this paper is to investigate two issues: understanding how Chinese automobile manufacturing firm’s technological capability (TC) structure evolves in innovation process; and to explore different activities and techniques that applied in different stage of technological capability structure by using SAT model. The paper is constructed as follow: First, the paper examines how TC are defined and measured from different perspectives. Second, activity theory in new service development shed lights on our study, and a modified SAT model—which includes stage, activity and techniques is proposed in analyzing TC. Third, taking Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as GAC Group) as the typical case study, the paper explores the evolutionary process of corporate technological capability structure in China. The in-depth case study is conducted to explain how TC structure evolves in the innovation process by using SAT framework. Finally, the paper constructs and discusses the SAT evolutionary model of TC structure for innovation. |
