Abstract: |
This study investigates the effects of the discrepancy between remaining team members and departures or replacements to explore the different coordination mechanisms under different cultures of individualism and collectivism with a 10-year sample of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the China Basketball Association (CBA). We find that individualist cultures (such as U.S.) prefer the coordination pattern with less ability difference among team members, and employees are less likely to be affected by coordination flux; while under collectivist cultures (such as China), employees are subject to existing relationship inertia and vulnerable to coordination flux. |
