Abstract: |
The performance implications of top management team’s gender diversity have proven elusive. Just having gender diversity on the top management team may not automatically deliver benefits to the organization. We target to explore how giving women equal structural power as men on TMTs influences organizational performance. Using panel data from 853 publicly listed high-tech companies in China during 2009-2016, we tested the impact of TMT gender power equality on organizational performance. We also examined the moderating effect of women’s human capital in influencing this relationship. We found support for the proposed relationships. We discuss the implications for theory and practice. |
