Abstract: |
Voice behaviour has a potentially important influence, but is usually withheld in the workplace. Given its importance, the question of how to promote voice behaviour is attracting increased interest from scholars and practitioners. In the present study, we proposed and tested a model to examine the impact of authentic leadership on employee voice behaviour. We also tested how authentic leadership exerts its influence on employee voice behaviour. Using data from a sample of 255 supervisor–subordinate dyads, we hypothesized and found that: (a) authentic leadership positively relates to employee voice behaviour; (b) this positive relationship is mediated by leaders’ seeking feedback from their subordinates. We discuss the implications of our findings and provide some directions for future researchers. |
