Abstract: |
Despite the quick growth of voice research, many questions and issues remain. This symposium seeks to extend voice research by presenting four research papers. These papers represent the frontier trends in this literature with the following characteristics. First, they enrich our understanding of the nomological network of employee voice by examining different types of study variables, including individual voice strategies and emotional states, and social influence factors, and national cultural attributes. Second, they bring new perspective into this literature by integrating different theories, such as social persuasion theory (Petty & Bri?ol, 2015; Petty & Cacioppo, 1986), elaboration likelihood model (ELM, Raghunathan & Trope, 2002), and relative deprivation theory (Crosby, 1976). Third, these papers examined voice behavior through different empirical methods, such as meta-analysis, round-robin design, and event-based survey design. The data were from different industries in China, including pharmaceutical, high technology, and manufacturing companies. Taken together, this symposium, consistent with the recent call by Morrison (2014), provides rich discussions on new research issues and methods in voice research. |
