Abstract: |
We introduce a new voice tactic, transit voice, defined as a voice tactic by which employees (“informants”) speak out to their peers (“transferors”) and ask them to transfer messages to leaders. Drawing on the function perspective of status (Halevy, Chou & Galinsky, 2011), we investigate 1) how status can guide members to allocate their roles in transit voice and 2) the consequence of transit voice. The results of our field survey study showed that low status members were more likely to ask high status peers to transfer their voice to leaders, and transit voice was positively related to leader’s endorsement. |
