Abstract: |
Based on social information processing theory, we delineate coworkers and leaders as relevant and important social information sources for employees’ creativity. We propose that perception of coworker incompetence accusations reduces employees’ psychological safety and in turn hinders creativity. Moreover, servant leadership, signaling positive social information, counterbalances the negative effect of coworker incompetence accusations on psychological safety and sequential creativity. Time-lagged data collected from 326 dyads of supervisors and subordinates confirmed the moderated mediation framework. Theoretical and practical implications with future research directions are also discussed. |
