Abstract: |
Employees are expected to identify with the organization and to display high performance. In today’s competitive business world, however, job insecurity has become a common and unavoidable organizational phenomenon. How does organizational identification influence the effects of job insecurity on employee outcomes? From the social identity perspective, we investigate the interactive effects of job insecurity and organizational identification on employee performance and wellbeing outcomes. Two-wave data collected from 289 Chinese employees and their supervisors showed that for high identifiers, job insecurity had a positive effect on their job performance yet negative effect on their wellbeing. |
