Abstract: |
Integrating social information processing theory with leadership and climate literatures, this study was designed to produce novel theoretical insight regarding how spiritual leadership and task uncertainty foster the conditions that enhance meaningfulness climate and subsequent team effectiveness, operationalized as team performance and team organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Based on data collected in 3 phases over 12 months from multiple sources of 123 teams, we found that spiritual leadership was positively related to meaningfulness climate only when facing uncertain tasks. Further, the indirect effects of spiritual leadership on team performance and team OCB were mediated by meaningfulness climate when facing uncertain tasks. |
