Abstract:
Although Luo and Child (2015) suggest that CBV-style innovation, which can be termed “compositional innovation”, is to some extent related to certain cultural factors rooted in the Chinese traditions, specific links between compositional innovation and Chinese traditional culture remain largely unspecified and superficial. Our perspective paper responds to Luo and Child’s call for more research on identifying relevant cultural factors by explicating the inherent links between compositional innovation and the Chinese cultural norm of balanced moderation. Specifically, we propose an integrative model of compositional innovation that is rooted in Chinese traditional culture.
