Why Paternalistic Leadership Cannot Behave Ethically? The Mechanism of Abusive Supervision in Territorial Conflict between Leader and Subordinate

Abstract:
      The objective of this study was to reveal the influence mechanism of paternalistic leadership on abusive supervision. We use the structural equation modelling(SME) to analyse a questionnaire survey from 389 employees in China, it was found that (1) paternalistic leadership has a direct impact on abusive supervision; (2) authoritarian leadership has a direct positive impact on abusive supervision; moral leadership has indirect effect on abusive supervision; (3) moral leadership has indirect effect on abusive supervision, yet it can affect abusive supervision through the mediating effect of psychological ownership, territorial behaviour and interpersonal conflict.
