| Information seeking is a representative behavior of newcomer active socialization, through which newcomers can acquire necessary skills to transform themselves into the insiders of an organization. Based on 20 in-depth interviews with new-generation newcomers, this study establishes a process model of newcomer information seeking behaviors and socialization outcomes by applying grounded theory. This model reveals that environmental and individual factors affect newcomer information seeking behaviors; newcomer information seeking behavior is not a simple and random action, but an action with seeking concerns, preparation, and seeking tactics; newcomer information seeking leads to socialization outcomes in terms of self-enhancement and altruistic behaviors. |
